Real Empowerment Means Rising Above Ego

Women supporting women—it’s a concept that should bring strength and unity. But over time, I’ve been surprised by how often insecurity and ego take priority over honesty and genuine support. I’ve seen more women choosing to lead from a place of fear rather than truth, and it’s left me confused. Behind closed doors, insecurity can cloud judgment, leading to manipulation and self-serving actions. But that’s not leadership.

I navigate insecurities. I am far from perfect, however, I try to challenge myself to choose higher ground, when it’s hard, and knowing that every choice I make reflects not only on myself but on the values of faith and integrity I claim to uphold. God calls us to a higher standard—to lead with love, truth, and humility. If we allow insecurity to guide us, not only are we setting the wrong precedent, both for ourselves and others, but we’re denying God’s love.

My mom was a beautiful example of what it meant to lead in truth. She never allowed her insecurities to compromise any situation and she always led by example, with respect and grace. Her strength was never about control or ego but about standing firm in her values. Something I strive to uphold.

Be wise and discerning about who you extend your trust and offerings to. Don’t be fooled by appearances. Protect your heart, because even when things look right on the surface, there’s always more beneath. Light will always reveal what’s hidden in the darkness. It takes true strength to lift others up, especially those younger or less experienced, even when it feels challenging or uncomfortable. That’s the kind of leadership God calls us to—leader grounded in faith, truth, and respect.

I feel blessed to know a few exceptional women who live by these values, with consistency, showing me that when we choose to lead by example, with honesty, grace, and wisdom, we reflect the best of what God asks of us. They remind me that real sisterhood is about setting a precedent, rooted in integrity and love.

Let’s be those women. Women who rise. Let’s lead with wisdom, grace, and acceptance. When we choose to walk in truth, we not only uplift others but honor the call to love as God intended.
